Encomium As Semiteje Bows Out of Delta Civil Service

The Accountant-General of Delta State, Mrs Joy Enwa, has described the retired Permanent Secretary (PS) in the state Ministry of Finance, Mr Cornelius Semiteje, as an astute manager of resources during his years in the state civil service.

She stated this at a sendforth party, organised in honour of the retired PS in Asaba.

It could be recalled how Semiteje ensured the turnaround of the enterprises under the supervision of the ministry, notably the Universal Investment Development Company (UIDC).The Managing Director of the finance company, Lucky Ojei, said it achieved a N52 million profit and had since experienced three years of positive returns, which he attributed to an agenda inspired by Semiteje.

The wife of the retired PS, Mrs Francisca Semiteje, who was present at the event was also lauded for being supportive of her husband.

Semiteje was appointed PS in December, 2013 after 22 years in service.

He was in 2006 the Director of Investments and Loans and served in so many other capacities in the state civil service, including the boards of several government and privately owned businesses.

The functioning PS in the ministry, Pinnick, and many others, including the Commissioner for Finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije, said there was no doubt that Semiteje’s wealth of experience would be needed by the state, even after retirement from the civil service.

The high point of the event was the presentation of gifts to the celebrant as appreciation for his contributions to the ministry and the state.
