International Day of Charity: Chukwunwike commends 05 Foundation for touching lives in Aniocha South

The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Area, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike, has commended the resilience of the initiator of 05 Foundation, Dame Edith Okowa, wife of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, describing her as an advocate for positive societal change.

Speaking in Ogwashi-Uku on Tuesday at an event to mark this year’s International Day of Charity, Chukwunwike said through intensified medical outreaches and donations to the needy, the 05 Foundation has caved a niché for itself.

“Let me appreciate the Okowas for standing by us as a Local Government Area. The love that you have shown our people is unprecedented. In a time that a cup of water is of great value, at a time that a grain of rice was almost beyond reach, you have came to celebrate the International Day of Charity by giving out lots of food items and medicals to our people.

“We have seen many political initiatives die but the resilience of the 05 Initiative sustained it over the years. It shows that the initiator is a true believer that has concern for the needy. Thank you for bringing this year’s edition for charity celebrations to Aniocha South”, Chukwunwike added.

Dame Okowa who was on hand to mark the day at Ogwashi-Uku urged the people to embrace Jesus Christ, stressing that happenings all over the world show that only Christ gives lasting peace and joy.

The 2023 International Day of Charity was celebrated in Aniocha South with healthcare workers providing free medical test and treatment to residents at Aniocha South Event Center, Ogwashi-Uku.
The benefactors went home with bags of rice and other food items courtesy of the 05 Foundation.

September 5 was chosen globally to commemorate the efforts and contributions of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, for her tireless work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress.
